In 2013, Apala began with a simple idea: a different kind of jewelry experience in Nepal, a private, unhurried space where clients could browse at their own pace, with personal, attentive service. Less a traditional jewelry store, more a place to take one's time and feel confident in one's choices.
The reality of those early days was far more modest. Apala started with a handful of designs and a close-knit team, attending to one client at a time. Building trust took time. So did developing the designs, working with kaligars, and establishing the standards of craftsmanship that would become central to the brand. That early intimacy became part of what defined the Apala experience.
Over the years, the collections have evolved, growing from a small selection of designs into a distinct and continually evolving design language. With each collection, Apala has explored new forms, proportions, materials, gemstones, and ways of working with gold, while remaining grounded in the craftsmanship and attention to detail that have always been central to the brand.
Alongside the jewelry, the way Apala tells its story has evolved too. Storytelling has become an important part of how we approach design, allowing each collection to begin with an idea, a mood, a cultural reference, or a particular way of seeing the world. From the jewelry itself to the imagery, spaces, and experiences built around it, we have continued to look for ways to express what makes an Apala piece feel distinctive.
But the clearest measure of Apala's journey has never been its collections. It has been its relationships.
Many clients who first walked through Apala's doors more than a decade ago remain part of the brand today. Those relationships have extended beyond the showroom. The team has been invited to weddings, bratabandha ceremonies, and other family celebrations, becoming part of moments that have little to do with jewelry and everything to do with trust.
Thirteen years on, the vision has grown, the collections have evolved, and the team has expanded. Yet the original intention remains: thoughtful design, considered craftsmanship, and an experience that feels personal.
We're grateful to everyone who has been part of these thirteen years: the clients who trusted us with their celebrations, the kaligars whose skill brings each creation to life, and everyone who has helped Apala grow along the way.
What began in 2013 continues to be guided by the same belief: that jewelry becomes truly meaningful when it becomes part of a person's story. Thirteen years later, that story continues.
